Grow your food at Home!

The pandemic has taught us many things and has made us shift our focus to what matters the most. Primarily, to food (basic necessity). When the lockdown was announced, people rushed to hoard supplies. In the process of doing so, we realized how important it is to sustainably grow food, at least to survive for a bit without having to run around in search of it. Here are the basic steps to set up a kitchen garden.

Step 1: Assess the sunlight. The most important ingredient for growing edible plants is sunlight.

Step 2: Choose your pots. If you have a theme in mind, you can choose based on color, shape, or design; or even paint it yourself to suit your environment.

Step 3: Carefully choose what to grow. It’s important to consume the produce. Choose your plant or saplings based on their nutrient value and the possibility to grow with the resources you have.

Step 4: Get the right soil. Research online, talk to your friends with gardening experience before choosing the soil.

Step 5: Get seeds and saplings. There is a process to sow. Gather information about the depth at which the seeds have to be sown and the distance between each etc.

Step 6: Watch your food grow. It is such a joy to see them grown. It's literally watching the new life prosper as you nourish it and it nourishes you right back.

Step 7: Enjoy your kitchen garden and keep learning. Spending time with plants does loads of good to you mentally and helps you relax. Keep researching, exploring, and enjoying the process.
